This round we welcome Edithvale-Aspendale who although sitting in the penultimate position on the ladder have managed some upset wins during the season so are not to be taken lightly. Our sponsor of the week is Laneway Espresso the club’s Media sponsor.
Saturdays Round 14 U19s game again saw Dromana undermanned against the top side and although Dromana held them to a 16 point lead at quarter time it was inevitable that the weight of numbers would be too much over the four quarters.
Our reserves were also struggling for numbers and reliant on a number of our U19s doubling up and early injuries put paid to any chance we may have had against a well drilled Mt Eliza outfit.
The senior game started in variable wind conditions which changed all day from strong gusts to a mild breeze but we seemed to get some favour from it in the first quarter to lead by 11 points at quarter time. The next two quarters saw Mt Eliza gain ascendancy to lead by 6 points at half time and 14 points at the last break. Mt Eliza kicked the first goal of the last quarter to extend their lead to 21 points then Dromana lifted and kicked the next four goals while holding Mt Eliza scoreless. The last minutes of the final quarter saw Dromana lock down Mt Eliza and prevent them getting the outside ball to eventually win a hard fought game by 6 points.
Dromana are still two games clear in third position on the ladder with 4 rounds to play.
