Dromana Tigers – Round 17 Notes

The penultimate round of the 2019 Home and Away season sees us travel to 4th placed Bonbeach. We are now firmly locked into at least third place on the ladder but dependent on circumstances we could finish higher.

Last Saturday saw us travel to Pines for the first time for many years and our U19s and Reserves teams were again struggling for numbers and though they battled hard were unable to produce the necessary teamwork to bring home a win.
In what was the game of the round the 2018 Premiers from 1st and 2nd Division met again with Pines still smarting from their loss in our previous clash at Dromana a hard fought game was expected. Dromana went into the game with several changes due mainly to injury but Ben Holmes playing only his second game for the year was named at full-forward and this proved to be a significant addition as he kicked six goals and Dromana lead at every change increasing the margin as the game progressed to eventually run out 28 point victors and equalling Pines on Premiership points but now only trailing them by less than one percent for second spot on the ladder.

This was probably the physically hardest game Dromana has played all year but we were able to withstand the pressure and play our brand of football which goes well for the lead in to the finals.

The 8th draw of the Home Game Raffle was won by Justine Kelly No. 184.

Tickets are on sale. Draw is on 18th August at Dromana Lifesaving club.

Our last luncheon for the year will be held on round 18 the Mornington Home game. Contact Phil or Graham for bookings. Guest speaker. Snooks catering. $60 per head.
